Countdown to Graduation | FUNDRAISING





	Welcome to an Exciting Year, KZV Class of 2008! 2007-2008 will certainly be a memorable school year for our 8^th graders. According to their teachers, they are all working hard to achieve their best, while at the same time enjoying their last year at KZV… We wish them all the best… From left to right: 1^st row: Vana Andonian, Taleen Hanoun, Janet Nalbandian and Mrs. Kostanian. 2^nd row: Armen Chouldjian, David Konstantinov, Narek Mkhitaryan. 3^rd row: Arnold Asriyan, Aram Gevandian, Grant Musayelyan Sweatshirts! The wait is over! Finally, the much awaited special 08 sweatshirts are here, and our proud 8^th graders are happily wearing them. The students would like to thank their parents and K.Z.V.’s administration for this wonderful opportunity. Olympic Day! Friday, October 26, was the last Olympic day for our 8^th graders… It was a great day to have fun outdoors as teachers, students, families and alumni students headed to the green field in Daly City. The students first enjoyed the pizza sponsored by the PTA, and then Mrs Banklian gave them the signal to form their teams. The students competed against each other in the balloon toss, egg run, hay sack jumping, obstacle course, penalty kick, etc… At the end of the games, the much anticipated tug of war took place between the 8^th grade students and the teachers. Although our nine 8^th graders tried their best, but clearly they were outnumbered by the teachers and only gave up after a long fight. Bravo to all, and a special thank you to Mrs. Banklian who puts every effort to make this a success. And a BIG thank you to Mrs. Banklian’s husband, Mr. George Banklian, who is there to help and support our school. Halloween It was so much fun to see all the students dressed up on Halloween day! Our 8^th graders felt “too old” to wear costumes. However our girls were little devils, and Grant looked different with a big wig! It was a day to remember… Gift to the school! It has been a tradition for the graduating class to present a gift to the school during the graduation ceremony held in June. However, this year’s 8^th grade class, decided with the administration to present their gift much earlier.On October 5^th, during the morning gathering in the Saroyan Hall, nine proud eight graders presented a DVD player to each and every class of KZV, from Pre-K to 8^th grade. All the teachers were very grateful for this much needed electronic equipment for their classes, and can’t wait to use it… Thank you 8^th grade students and parents for your kind gesture.

	The parents of our 8^th grade class are hard at work raising funds for their annual Washington D.C. trip and graduation. They have decided to hold several fundraisers during the school year… 1) Pizza: Once a month, in conjunction with the PTA Hot Lunch program, the 8^th grade class is offering Pizza, Salad, Juice and Dessert. This event will happen the last Friday (or Thursday) of the month. Our first Pizza Day was held Friday, September 28^th, 2007. Mrs. Roset Chouldjian and Mrs. Grace Andonian eagerly distributed the pizzas to hungry students…For desserts, the kids received an ice-cream sandwich! We would like to thank all the students and teachers who, by donating $5.00, participated to this fundraiser. We also would like to thank Mrs. Nahabedian and Mrs. Banklian who helped us pass the pizza. Next Pizza Day: Friday November 30, 2007. 2) Raffle The much anticipated drawing of our raffle took place during Kef Night, on November 3^rd, 2007. The lucky winners were: 1st Prize: Mrs. Arpi Alajaji won the 14K White Gold Diamond Hoop Earrings ($2100 Value), donated by Giraux Jewelers, San Francisco 2nd Prize: Mr. Khachig Tazian won the 14K White Gold Diamond Pendant ($900 Value), donated by Derco Jewelers, San Francisco 3rd Prize: Mrs. Camilla Hazlehurst won the Pearl Necklace ($500 Value), donated by Fine Facets, San Francisco 4th Prize: Mrs. Roubina Ovanessian won the Painting from Armenia, 16x20 framed, ($150 Value), donated by Andonian Family We would like to thank again all the families and friends who contributed to this fundraiser. We would like to take this opportunity to once again extend our gratitude to the Kilijian/Sarkissian, Der Abrahamian, Quon and Andonian families for their generous donations. We wish you all good health. 4) Movie Night: PTA and 8^th grade are once again joining forces to organize the first Movie Night to be held at KZV’s Saroyan Hall. Big and small will all bring their PJs and sleeping bags to watch and enjoy a fun family movie called “Ratatouille”. And of course we can’t have a movie without popcorn.
