The Computer Science Department strives to provide each student with the technical skills, intellectual curiosity, and self-confidence required to succeed in today's technological age. Through this increased availability and use of technology, students will work to improve their critical thinking, collaborative learning, problem solving, and creative skills. With a fully-equipped computer lab and computer instructor, our students receive weekly computer literacy and skills instruction. Our program offers First through Eighth Grade students with a technology-rich curriculum that inspires learning and develops technology and research skills necessary for academic success and life-long learning. The Computer Lab functions in part, as an extension of the classroom, where teachers can bring their students to work on projects large and small. The students become familiar with the basic operations of a computer, the basic skills of keyboarding, on-line research, word processing, database and spreadsheet management and manipulation, and they learn how to create multimedia projects. Thus, students not only develop specific technology-related skills, but also apply these skills to research and create multimedia presentations that advance grade level learning objectives.
