The State of California requires all children entering school for the first time to be immunized against polio, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, measles, mumps, and rubella and to be tested for tuberculosis. Kindergarten and seventh grade must be vaccinated against Hepatitis B and Varicella. Parents must present their child’s immunization record to the school as proof of immunization prior to admission. Children who have not completed all immunizations will be admitted conditionally if they are not up to date, and they obtain the next immunization when they are due. California allows a personal beliefs, or philosophical exemption to immunization requirements. Any parent has the option to take the personal beliefs exemption at any time. A letter or affidavit stating that the immunization is contrary to his/her beliefs must be filed with the school.
Students entering Kindergarten must be 5 years old by September 1st, otherwise, they will not be allowed to enter Kindergarten.
